Show Area names
You need to know about some Rift icon locations. Here are some explainations.
There are many types gathering. You need to learn a profession to see them and gather them. The Gather icon is used for 2 professions:
You can search them with Icon Search. Only you need to know the plant locations might have two plants at same place. If you gather the plant, after some time another plant spawns there. Only wood logs are same. For mining, there is also chance with 2 different lores/veins at same place.
BUTCHERY with or or or or or
For profession Butchery you need to kill beast mobs. In Riftworldmap you can place soms mob icons at some areas and write in comment which leather/piece they might drop after skinning/butchering. Make sure they're skinnable.
WARDSTONES with (defiant) or (guardian) or (other)
Wardstones are important combat tools. Show some love to a nearby wardstone. Those pretty crystals you run by are an important part of the game. Run past one and you receive a nice buff. Let one get destroyed by an invasion and watch your vendors, class trainers, and quest NPCs disappear along with it. So take some time to care for it. You can get wardstone buffers as a reward from running rifts, or you can purchase them from a planar vendor with sourcestone currency. Targetting a wardstone allows you to use the buffer to heal up the wardstone, or if it's at full health, give it an upgrade. A well-buffed wardstone will eventually gain protective turrets that fire on attackers, and a fully buffed wardstone will have a protective soul that hands out an even better buff to players.
If a wardstone does fall to enemy invaders, don't despair. You can summon reinforcements using a planar flare, which is rewarded via rifts or purchased from a planar vendor. Take note of the level flare you have, because the higher the level, the stronger the army that you will summon. There is a cooldown on flares, but more than one player can target a wardstone and summon an army, so a small group of players can overcome the odds and quickly turn the tide.
On a side note, if you're feeling particularly adventurous, grab a few flares and head over to the opposite faction's hunting areas to go harass their wardstones. If you're looking for a change of pace from protecting your home city, go track down some rift invaders as they attack your opponents' cities and quest hubs. Just keep in mind that you will be flagged for PvP if you do attack an opponent's wardstone!
You may locate unnamed and secret wardstone locations on the map, for nice loot or buff.
Artifacts are special collectable items for artifact quests. You see them easy at sparkled lights. They're mainly at hidden places. You must search around to find one. Mostly along the road and at mountain places. Always look behind trees and rocks. Think where are possible useful to hide artifact.
When a quest is completed, you can give them at artifact master in your main city place. You might get nice loot from them.
Many artifacts are located at Riftworldmap, but the reported item inside artifact is not same! An artifact give different questitem. Thus it's no need to search for one item, just loot every artifact where you can find them. You need good luck. :-) The spawn time of artifact is pretty long. It might have some hours spawntime. That means you cannot wait for them.
Each zone has own artifact quests, you must search around in same zone if you want complete the quests.
You can share artifact locations with another players. There are plenty places to find one, don't worry. But no need to tell which item is inside the artifact.

Finally some good site improvements. I shall explain the changes:
You can now link the location on the forum posts to my site. Just copypaste the generated link from the new Linkmap window in your forum post. You can use pointer location, but you can locate an icon from the database. The users can see where the location is after clicking on the link. Zoomlevel is possible with pointer link.
Because the limit of 300 icons search, not all ppl likes it to search again and over again... Well, here is AutoSearch function. While you navigate around, the icons are searched and placed in the map view window. And because icons stays in place, you can also zoom in and out. But if there are too much icons, then choose "Remove Icons" from Icon Search panel and try again.
The AutoSearch box is found in Icon Search panel.

When you search something for icons with normal search function, the existing icons are not removed. You can expand your view now with more than 300 icons. (The search itself is still 300 icons limited because the dropdown location list in the Results part.) You can remove icons if it's too much if you want.
Now you can look better around without removing icons by each search. But if you cannot see which icon it is, use Remove Icons function and search again. It shall show right icons.
Remember the new search can slow down some browsers with very much icons op the map. Then remove icons and start again with new fresh search with lesser icons on the map. Don't forget enable the AutoSearch if you want look around.

My personal information is now added to the site.
Small icon change today. The icon for dungeons is now changed to official icon . This is only for official dungeons as showed on RIFT maps. The another icon is official cave icon. But it's not used for another caves which is not visible on RIFT map. Therefore, i made new icon , which is first used for dungeon icon before, for all (small) named and unnamed caves where you can find in the zone (thus not showed on official ingame map). Some caves are important for achievement. Use this new icon for important caves.
You cannot use official cave icon for another locations. I want keep it official showed as on ingame RIFT map. Use Small Cave icon for it. Thank you.
I have now added the icon for Rare Mobs part. The icon is actually ninja smile, but it's also good for "hunting" for rare mobs. Thus i use this icon for rare mobs only.
I have now added the locations in Silverwood and Freemarch. Tomorrow i add more locations.
There are 77 rare mobs needed for zone archievements, but for world achievement, you need to find 105 rare mobs!
I use data from ZAM and Telerapedia site and use both to check information and location coords. Please wait until i have added all data in other zones.
Each icon has now coords in tooltip. That makes easier to check quickly where they are!
And i have added more artifact locations from another sites, but i have discovered some positions are wrong. That makes not every artifact location is 100% correct. Most are okay, that is good.
I want thank from my heart to some visitors who add some icons to the site. It's only not for yourself to remember the places, it's also for another players who want find some locations. Share data, and we all play much easier.

Sow... The old system with only H/V movement... not everyone likes it. Some people asked me to use Google Map API, but it has own coords (Lat coords) which is not easy to convert it. Thus i have now developed own "Google Maps" system with click-and-move method. After some scripting work and testing, it works finally like Google Maps.
Now it's much better than before and it's also tested with IE. But because different system, it's not easy with Android. You need Map View for navigation.
Another improvements in search function. The Map View shows now all icons (pointers) if you search for it. You can now see where the icons are found. You see them much faster without looking around in the map window where they are. You can also click on the Map View on the area you want see quickly.
The website is also improved for use in Android mobile phone. (I have tested it with Desire Z) so you can navigate a bit around.
The search is little improved now. The Icon type list is now multi-select. You can now search for one or more icons. Or you can click on 3 presets: all mobs, all wardstones or all places.
But for Icon Editor, you must choose one icon.
Now added the area names. Silvermoon is completed so far i know and some zones has some area names. You can hide it too. And i have added places in all zones.
The Puzzle locations are also added.
New instructions added, now with step-by-step for adding new icons.
Tabs are added for better navigation in Instructions window.
Just added the search option "Search only in window". This special function search quickly the icons inside the window view. That makes easier to look around what you can find on the place. The zone choice is here ignored, but you can search which icons you want see.
But a support is still needed for the input data. Thank you very much. :) And IE problems are hopefully solved.
You can move map now with your mouse. Click and keep pressed, then you can slide the map in all directions. Like Google Maps.
If you want move faster to the area, you can use "Jump to Zone" or "Jump to coords".
When you found the right area, then click on the map to locate it with the red crosshair. The Rift coords are now placed in the Rift Coords X,Y fields.
You may choose another Zoomlevel for the map detail. There are 4 zoom levels available. The zoom level 3 or 4 are very good for exact icon position or for busy icon areas.
The checkbox "Show Mapnames" is to hide all names on the map. When you cannot see where you place the icon, you can hide the mapnames easy.
The new Map View is available for faster navigation. You can just click on the map to jump quickly to the area in the map window.
The red outlined block follows your actions with moving and zooming. You can see where you are now!

To use the Icon Search function, make sure the title above is showed as "Icon Search". If not, click on the button "Icon Search" above for the mode switch.
Here you can search with one of more fields. When the icons are found in the database, the icons are showed in Result window as list and placed in the Worldmap.
The search uses "AND" data checking, thus use one field to search wider, or fill more fields in to search more exactly. De searchlimit is max 300 icons. You can search in the choosen zone for icons, so you don't need to load whole world icons. But the limit is 300 icons, remember it.
When you started the webpagina for first time, you see no icons in the world. You can now jump to the zone, then search quickly in the zone for all icons.
Choose the icon from the list, then the map shall move to the choosen icon automatically. A red crosshair moves to the icon you have selected from the list. And each icon has a tooltip. Mouseover the icon to read extra information about the icon. It's very easy.
You can edit the icons immediately with filled fields. Just switch to the Icon Editor with the button above to make it possible.
I tell you about the fields:
- The field "Quest / Title" is for all quest texts and NPC titles.
- The field "Name Icon" is for the icon itself. When it's gather item, give it a name. If it's a NPC, give it the name of the NPC. It's also for place and dungeon names.
- The field Where/Comment is for extra comments about the icon. But it's also used to locate the icon if it's not easy to find. Keep the info short and useful.
- The Min Level is for the level indication of the mobs or quests. Not needed for gather level.
- The zone and type icon are always needed for the icon location. Make sure it's selected right.
You can locate the icon place with two methods: manual or "automatic". The automatic mode means you use mouse to click the right position for the icon. The coords are showed in the fields and red crosshair is placed there. But if you want do more faster and accuracy, you need the game RIFT for ingame coords and insert manually the coords.
Now, lets do the step-to-step guide how you can add one icon correctly to the map.
1. Search the place in the game. It may be a gather item, artifact, interesting mob, cairn, whatever.
You see here for example gather item which is possible not found in the database.
2. Make sure you are standing ABOVE the gather item. This will give best accurate coords for the location.
3. Press now the "M"-key for the Map view in the game. You see the map window with the coords below. But the coords are not correctly set now when opening window. You must mouseover the map window once time to refresh the map coords (see yellow line).
WARNING: There is bug in the game. Mouseover doesn't always center the coords correctly. You must now point with your mouse above the character location for correct coords.
4. Then keep mouse pointer away from the window and you see the right coords where you are now.
See warning above. Verify always the coords before you add the icon to the database!
5. Open now the Control panel. Make sure you have Icon Editor mode, otherwise click on the button above, so you have title "Icon Editor" below. Now type it manually in the coords fields you see now below the map window, by RIFT Coords X,Y.
6. ALWAYS confirm it with "Jump to Coords" button if the coords are indeed right. Compare it with the RIFT ingame map.
If there is no mistake and both are equal, you can continue.
If it's different, then mouseover the ingame map window again to refresh the coords, and type again the new coords in the X,Y fields.
7. Okay, choose now correct zone. Here is Gloamwood, because de location is in Gloamwood zone.
There is no automatic zone control, thus make sure you choose right zone name.
8. If you have forgotten the name or you are not sure, then close Control Panel window and open the Map View window. You can now see the whole worldmap and the zone names. Look where the red outlined box is now, and remember the right zone now. Close the Map view window and open Control Panel again. Set the zone name now correctly.
9. Choose now the correct icon. Here is only Gather icon the right choice.
10. Now for Gather icon, you must set Name icon. If you don't know the name, mouseover the gather item ingame, then you see the tooltip at right side. Type the name in the field.
For Quick Insert repeated name, you can open yellow pulldown list and choose right name. The choosen name is now filled in the field. Easy!
The yellow list shows by some icon types, for example Gather, Trainers, Artifact, etc, if there is early data found.
11. If you have filled needed fields in and everything is ready to save it, you can click on "Save Icon location" button.
After clicking, the result message below is showed and you see the icon showed on the red crosshair.
To verify the stored information, you can mouseover the new icon now for tooltip info.
It's very possible you get the warning in the Result window if you place the same type near the another icons. Check the icons in the warning carefully if you don't see same icon on the position. When the position is even exactly same, the block is yellow colored. You cannot place same type on same position. If you want add more info for the position, then you must edit the icon. Are you sure it's different? Then click on the button below the Result window.
If you're not very sure, search first the area for icons, examine the icons around to make sure it's new icon or it's already placed by someone.
Now you're ready. You can continue to next place and place another icon on the map if you discovered new one.
And when the area is already crowned with many icons, you may use button "Remove all icons". It cleans the whole world. (It's not for cleaning the database.) Now you see the area better and you can add new icons. But there is good chance for warning if the same type icon is found near your position. Because another players can add icons to the database, there is good chance you get the warning for the "new" icon. Just check the list and place it only when it's indeed new.
If there is indeed already one, you can clean all fields fast with "Reset form fields" button. It's also useful if you choose different icon. Now you can continue with next icon.
Remember, there is no automatic zone selection. You must make sure you have choosen the right zone.

You can only edit the icons with 'Edit' mode enabled. This function works also for removing icons.
You must click carefully on the right icon on the map. Enable Edit mode only when you are ready to edit the icon. When clicked, the icon on the map is removed, but the red crosshair is on the place of the removed icon. The fields are now filled with the data from the icon. Now you can change the data fields if you want. You see also the Edit mode is now disabled. This prevents clicking more icons away. With filled data fields, you may also re-locate the icon and put it back on the new position with "Save Location". But if you must put it back on same position, don't click on the map!
If you make a mistake with clicking icon (some icons are very near) or changes the fields too much, or the position is changed by accident, you can use just showed button "Recover Icon location". It shall recover the removed icon from the database and place it back on the old position with old information. Remember you cannot recover many icons, only the latest clicked icon.
If you want remove the icon, then you can clear and reset all fields with "Reset Form fields" button.
Click Edit mode again for the next icon and edit it.
The website Rift Worldmap Icons is made for everybody who want find easy icons on the map. At the time i made the site, i have searched for map scripts. Of course Google Map API is good one, but the coords is the problem. Google version uses real world map latitude coords. And Rift uses just simple xxxx,xxxx coords. That is big difference.
I have finally found best mouse cursor script. I tried to build a custom map script around the cursor script and have tested it with all common browsers: IE, Chrome, Opera, FF.
After many tries, people need easy click and slide method like Google Maps. I have also tried it as best possible and searched for solutions on the site. Finally, i found some tricks to make it possible. Now you can slide the map with mouse without many problems.
I post all information on Rift official forum, under username "MrDummy".
I played also in Rift game, but more to collect icon data instead of real leveling work. I support many players as possible i can. Of course i can import another databases, but not all databases are "confirmed" locations. It looks great to throw 5000 artifacts in the database, but are all verified? My database has 99% verified locations.
But because my slow leveling, i have not checked all areas, thus i need your help to insert verified locations. The editor is open for all people, thus you can add easy icons to the database. Read the Instructions how it works.
I want keep all icons same like ingame map icons. But I have only added some own icons for mob locations and custom locations for information purposes.
